Dublin-born producer/singer/songwriter artist Christian Cohle, is the first signee to N-6 Records. He just dropped his debut single Breathe, which is taken from a forthcoming project. Elegant, melancholy, ultra-captivating !
Hi Christian, thanks for taking the time to have a chat with TEEZ. What have you been up to?
Thanks for having me! Not much. Just working at my studio mostly these days, making music.
How would you describe your sound to those unfamiliar with your music?
Modern contemporary pop, with an electronic element.
Did you grow up in a creative home?
Yeah, there was always a lot of music to be heard at home, and I was always encouraged to be creative.
What’s the first memory of music that you have?
Oh, god I really don’t know, thats a tough one. Let me get back to you about that!
Did you or do you play any instruments?
Guitar was the first instrument I learnt properly, more recently I have been using mostly the piano to write music.
What was the inspiration behind your electrifying pop single « Breathe »?
Breathe was inspired from me trying to make sense of things, at a time where I felt quite disconnected to the world around me.
Where did you record it ?
Most of it was recorded in my mates studio in Dublin City.
What are you listening to right now ? What do you like ?
I like whatever really! Right now, some of the artists I’m listening to at the moment are Yves Tumor, David Bowie, Kanye West, Vince Staples…
A dream featuring?
David Bowie, but I’d have to acquire some sort of time machine for that.
You will perform at Whelan’s in Dublin on March 28th. What are you preparing for this concert ?
I’ll be using a lot of vocal effects. Big analogue synth pads and getting a drummer to play a full live drum kit along with sample pads to make
the sound really big and exciting. It’s fun to offer some differences and nuances to the tracks from how they sound on the record!
Your plans for the future ?
My plan is to keep building my fan base, release some more singles and then drop my debut album ‘Holy Trouble’ later this year.
To end, what can you add to promote « Breathe » ?
If you like Bladerunner check out our music video for Breathe! it was directed by an upcoming Irish indie filmmaker, Tristan Heanue who has swept the country up with his recent short film Ciúnas! It’s really beautiful.
