Du Tonc are Matt Van Schie (from Van She) and Mighty Mouse.

Second single Surging Memories is out now.

TOUR DATES
13/06 – Social Club, Paris
14/06 – XOYO, London
23.06 – Pool Party, San Diego
28/06 – Glasslands, New York
29/06 – The Dolphin, Philly
04/07 – TBA, Los Angeles
05/07 – Baltimore House, Hamilton
06/07 – Supernite, El Paso
12/07 – YEFQ Party, Mexico City
13/07 – YEFQ Party, Guadalajara

First of all, could you tell us a bit about the story behind the band ?
We met in the now concealed back room of Paris Social club in 2010. And we’ve been good friends since then. In 2012 we decided that we take our friendship to the next level i.e. start a band together!

How would you describe your band and music in a few words ?
Fun, disco house.

What did you want to express in “Surging Memories”?
Lost loves and friendships of summer days gone by, but also the joy in knowing that there are many more people to meet on my journey.

Tell us about your musical upbringing, were you entirely self-taught? What kind of genres did you listen to when you were growing up? What instruments do you play?
My theoretical and practical musical training started in High School. I was tutored on Guitar and later Bass. I started out listening to classic rock, then into funk, disco and jazz.
When I was growing up I listened to Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, RUN DMC, Daft Punk.

Apart from music, do you share other passions together?
We both like to party hard, sadly. And we both like to have a good laugh.

Darkness, your first single have been climbing the indie dance chart early this year, what are your thoughts on the climate of this scene in particular and who are some of your favorites in the genre?
I’m not sure what genre we slot into really. But I’m loving Jai Paul, Blood Orange and Haim at the moment.

If Du Tonc existed in any of the the three previous decades, which one do you think would suit best your mood and inspiration ?
Very early 80s in New York. Wonky disco meets 80s pop.

What would be your dream place for a concert ?
Live Aid.

What is your good fun top 5 (video, music…)?
The Reels – This Guy’s In Love
The Style Council – Long Hot Summer
Duran Duran – Girls on Film
Roxy Music – Avalon
Beastie Boys – You Gotta Fight For Your Right To Party

Three reasons to love Surging Memories?
1. Because you dig the feeling you get from melancholic vibes.
2. You like a strange Middle 8
3. And you love summer.

With what words would you like this interview to end?
Thanks for having me. See you soon!

Baadman, the 18 year old French DJ revelation releases his first EP, “Stab” on Kitsuné: out May, 13th!

Raised in Caen, like fellow producers BeatauCue and Superpoze, Baadman rapidly gained notoriety by playing some big name festivals in the West of France and producing extraordinarily mature and accomplished music. As proof, the first ever remix he did for Yelle’s “L’Amour Parfait”, out last February, made quite some noise.

Stab EP is perfectly fit for clubbing, big bass and loops are stringing together with a disconcerting facility : “Stab” and “Gambetta” should be big hits of this summer.

Just to begin with our interview, where are you right now while answering our questions?
I’m at my parent’s home

Who is Baadman?
Baadman is just a pseudonym. I am not hiding behind this name, I just found it funny and cool haha.

Your first EP « STAB » will be released in May on Kitsuné . Besides it can be heard on TEEZ’ ‘How would you define your musical style?
I Think it’s a mix of some differents kind of music like rave, techno, acid… I like not do the same thing all the time.

How did your meeting go with the Kitsuné label?
the Kitsuné label mailing me for the Yelle’s remix first. They told me that I have only 48 hours to do it, so I took the chalenge and they loved it !

You’ve remixed Yelle’s L’amour Parfait’, any other artists on the card for remixing?
Yes, but it still remains a secret.. The only thing I can said it’s that i love this band !

What were you earliest experiences with music? The first record you bought, for instance?
My parents listening all kind of differents music at home, jazz, funk, soul since I was a kid. My first « choc » with electronic was Tiesto i think, i was a really big fan ! But few years later in 2008, I meet Don Rimini who playd some electronic tracks in a familial party and that clearly change my vision of electronic music.

What has influenced you in the past years?
I do some search about the base of the electronic music, because of my young age I did not know this time haha. So i listen some label like Trax, Missils, Dance Mania and all this stuff blew my head ! I think my EP stab come from that infuence.

How do you think you fit in historically? Are there an artists doing similar things or things that inspire you?
I think some new young producer like me will be very big in few years like for exemple Scntst, who have 18 years old, it’s for me the best producer of the moment

How do you see the music industry in the next coming years?
I really don’t know. Music industry change literaly every years, but internet will have very important place, even more now maybe !

What’s the hot, new track of the moment?
My favorite track of the moment is Manare – Riddle. It’s an awsome techno track, very simple, but very very powerful.

What do you do when you’re not music-ing?
I studding (yeah), watch a lot of movies, I see my girlfriend.. a lot of stuff

We wish you the very best with your first EP, have you got something to say to our readers?
Thanks for this interview that was cool, and thanks for supporting me !

http://www.kitsune.fr/

Thanks to Baadman
Special thanks to Viviane / Kitsuné

Nocturnes is the sophomore album from British artist Little Boots and follows her successful 2009 debut Hands. Inspired by her experiences DJing at nightclubs around the world, the album marries her perfect pop sound with club-inspired beats and synths.

New album ‘Nocturnes’ out May 2013. Pre-order and get a free download at www.littlebootsmusic.co.uk

So here we are… Noctures a new album full of songs ready to be lapped up by music lovers. How are you feeling?
Really happy and relieved that I’m finally releasing this album!

It’s been four years since your last album – did you get ‘second album syndrome’ or did you just want to take your time?
A combination, there were a lot of frustrations with my label holding things up and delays beyond my control but it also took me a while to find the direction and the right people to work with.

Apart from recording and writing, what else did you get up to/learn/achieve during your time off?
I’ve been DJing a lot which is something I’ve found really rewarding, and we toured in some places we had never visited before like South America, China and Russia. I’ve also been writing for other artists.

You have been honing your dj skills, particularly in the last year or so. How has this fed into the production of the new record?
Being aware of the latest dance releases and what other DJs are doing, also seeing how those records work out in a club and discovering the origins of dance music and lots of classic records has all really fed into the sound of the album.

Nocturnes obviously has all the tell tale elements of a Little Boots LP but there’s still a marked change in sound; how would you describe it?
I think its bit more grown up and much more considered, more cohesive but not necessarily drawing from one era for inspiration. Its still very pop and up beat but with lots of different sonic inspirations and being recorded in the same place with the same producer helped bring it all together.

You’ve mentioned the journey that you’ve been on since Hands and the highs and lows you’ve experienced. With this in mind are there any songs you’re particularly proud of on Noctures? why?
I always find it difficult to choose on songs over others, I guess they represent different parts of the writing journey… I do love Motorway though.

I find myself drawn to the track ‘Strangers’. What inspired this song and how did you decide upon its sound?
It was inspired by classic Abba style happy sad pop songs, I was in Sweden when I first started writing it. The production totally changed when I worked on it with Tim, before it sounded a bit like Robyn a few years ago and really needed a new pair of ears on it and he helped transform into this amazing cosmic chugging aquatic disco journey which I love!

How does the title Nocturnes reflect on the new record and yourself?
I think the night time theme is what joins it together, most of the songs feel like different phases or experiences of the night and dance music is the soundtrack of the night after all. I guess the title is a bit more grown up and serious also.

Your debut was a big success – were there any nerves about trying to follow that up?
Not really, the music industry has changed beyond all recognition since then and success means something very different in 2013. Now I prioritise myself being creatively happy much more than before.

Looking back at your debut LP, which song are you proudest of there and why?
Stuck on repeat is still a very special song to me.

So Headphones? Why didn’t it make the cut?
I think its a great catchy track but the style just didn’t sit right with the rest of the album and it was so important to me that there was a consistency there in the tracks we chose, its already out there and we still play it live so its not like anyone’s losing out.

What’s the message Little Boots will be channeling in 2013?
DISCO

Thanks to Little Boots
Special Thanks to Mia M.
