Previously following a more electro pop sound, with We Are the Wild Ones NINA takes a different direction, teaming up with songwriting duo Hunter As A Horse.

We Are The Wild Ones is a beautiful and ambient journey. A track that immediately grabs you with its haunting synth, combined with NINA’s smooth, atmospheric and impeccably sung vocal.

The EP is out today on AZTEC Records.

Hello Nina, to begin with, what are you doing right now? Apart from answering my questions obviously.
I’m playing with my friend’s dog ‘Pepe’ who I’m looking after this weekend.

You moved to London when you were 20. What did you expect to find there?
Everything I found. People and situations that challenged me over and over again. London has been a tough school for me and it can be quite lonely at times, but it helped me become a more independent person. You either hate or love it. I certainly can’t live without it.

Do you think the internet makes it easier for a singer starting now, than it was ten years ago?
It makes it easier to get your music heard definitely. Youtube, soundcloud, the music blogs and social media sites can give an artist great exposure, but I think it’s much harder to stay at the top these days. It’s easier to get noticed, but that also means that there’s more competition.

What has been going on in Nina’s life since your first single ‘Take Me Away” was released?
It’s been a long creative journey since then, and my musical taste has developed in different ways. I’ve been doing a lot of writing and recording and I’ve recently started gigging again. A lot has changed.

You are back with a new title « We Are The Wild Ones » produced by « Hunter as a Horse », a band we love here at TEEZ. How did this collaboration go?

I love Paul and Mia. They are truly inspiring and talented people. We started working together last year, and we just tried a couple of songs, not planning on making a whole project together, but it worked so well that the songs just kept flowing. I’m a big fan of their music.

Have you worked on other titles with them?
Yes, we’re working on the whole album together, which I’m very excited about.

How would you describe your musical style?
Dream Pop with a touch of melancholy.

Which pop stars at the moment do you rate?
Chilang Child, Frida Sundemo, Hunter As A Horse, Say Lou Lou.

Some demos were posted out via your soundcloud a few months ago. One of the titles « My Mistake » has been one of my faves earlier this year. Will you pick this one as one of your next singles?
I’m glad you like it. Yes, “My Mistake” will be the next single, with “Dark Rider” as the B side.

Quite a few artists are doing features. If you had to choose one collaboration, who would you pick?
I would love to collaborate with David Grellier from College. He’s a composer from France. I love everything he writes. His collaboration with Canadian duo ‘Electric Youth’ is genius and I never get tired of it.

I know you are actually just about to release your single, but do you have any plans for the follow up release?
The next single will be released in March, and the album in June next year. Lots of gigging and video shoots until then.

What can we find in your pocket/bag right now?
Lip balm, bubble gum flavoured chewing gum (always), iPhone and my blue Beats by Dre headphones.

What is for you a definite sign of stupidity?
People who bully or judge others. People who choose to be ignorant.

To finish, a song that may be on your mind right now?
‘Such A Shame’ by Talk Talk. It was the first song I remember hearing as a toddler, and I heard it again recently by chance. We went on a lot of road trips in my childhood and that song was constantly on the radio. I think it made it to #2 in the German Charts.
